Research assistant in Astronomy

The Department of Astronomy is a department within the Faculty of Natural sciences at Stockholm University. The department has about 80 employees. The main research areas are Planet and star formation, Galaxies, Supernovae, Solar physics and Computational astrophysics.

Main responsibilities

Your tasks as research assistant are to work with spectroscopic analysis of exoplanets during their accretion phase. This work is primarily performed in the context of the ENTROPY collaboration. The duties will also include contributions to BEAST, which is a high contrast survey for planets, brown dwarfs, and low-mass stars around B-type stars.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for applicants who have finished a doctoral degree in Astronomy with a research direction toward exoplanets, brown dwarfs, and stellar multiples, with a strong experience in scientific analysis and peer-reviewed publications as first author in these areas. The applicant should have experience in usage and development of the STARK extraction code, and experience in high contrast imaging.

About the employment

This is a temporary position for up to 11 months at full time. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date as agreement.
