Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) is an international research centre on resilience and sustainability science. Since its launch in 2007, the SRC has developed into a world-leading science centre on the complex challenges facing humanity. The SRC is part of the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. It currently employs approximately 130 members of staff with an additional 18 Master’s students. The education focus on sustainability science and the research focus on the resilience of social-ecological systems, sustainable cities, food systems, and ocean governance.

Main responsibilities

Do you want to engage people across the world in sustainability science? We are looking for a creative, structured and productive person to join our communications team. The press and engagement officer has a specific responsibility for external communication, including media relations, content creation and planning.

  • Proactively ensure that the Stockholm Resilience Centre maintains and continuously improves its high visibility in Swedish and international media for key target groups
  • Network and build strong relations with international and Swedish journalists
  • Coordinate and coach researchers on media contacts, including briefing notes when needed
  • Plan and manage external communication on all channels, including editorial support to other content creators at the department
  • Develop and contribute with editorial and multimedia content for web and other channels
  • Support to Head of Communications on Crisis Communications
  • Contribute to the Communications Department development
  • Contribute to a healthy work environment, upholding values and code of conduct
  • Upon request from the manager, fulfil other tasks when required.

Qualification requirements

  • At least four years’ experience with Swedish and international science media
  • Proven ability to lead editorial work within research communications
  • Excellent science writing skills in English with the ability to convert science jargon into engaging content
  • Well-established contacts with Swedish and international journalists
  • Excellent understanding of sustainability issues and how they can be communicated effectively towards different target audiences
  • Confidence in using digital publication platforms for websites and social media experience and high confidence in producing engaging content, written and multimedia, for international and Swedish target audiences
  • Extended experience of working in an international science environment
  • Up to date and familiar with new trends within communication and digital media.

Particular emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. We are looking for a structured, solutions oriented and flexible person with a positive “can-do” attitude to work.

About the employment

The position is full-time and is limited to 12 months. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Start date 15 October 2024, or as soon as possible, as per agreement.
