There is a comprehensive research program at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University (SU), which includes several areas of experimental and theoretical chemistry. The research includes metal catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, green chemistry, biomass conversion and carbohydrate research. The Department has a close collaboration with other Departments at SU and have a large collaboration network internationally. The Department will be included in a larger organization, called Department of Chemistry from January 2025.

Main responsibilities

  • Management a considerable number of NMR spectrometers
  • Management implies drift, maintenance, operation of the NMR spectrometers, and development of NMR methods, as well as providing user help and administrating user fees
  • User help implies practical help to PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows and researchers, as well as introduction of new users to the spectrometers
  • Supervision of undergraduate students regarding the NMR related tasks at the laboratory exercises is also included.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for you who have:

  • A PhD degree is required at one of the areas relevant for the employment (e.g. chemistry, physics or engineering subject)
  • Documented scientific, technical and instrument-based skills in using NMR spectroscopy
  • Documented practical knowledge in liquid state NMR spectroscopy, preferably of the organic-chemistry type.
  • Excellent communication skills and a service-minded attitude, as the above mentioned duties includes day by day contact with numerous active researchers in chemistry.

Experience of the implementation and development of new NMR methods, as well as experience with solid-state NMR are considered as advantages.

About the employment

This is a full-time, indefinite-term employment with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date as agreement.
