Researcher in experimental particle physics

The Department of Physics at Stockholm University is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Science and supports a broad range of basic research in experimental and theoretical physics. Project description

The candidate will be placed in the Astroparticle and Elementary Particle Physics division at Stockholm University. The division is part of the ATLAS collaboration, and is deeply committed to the operations and upgrade of the experiment, as well as to the analysis of the data collected. The announced position will focus on the alignment of the ATLAS inner tracker, as well as on searches for extensions of the Standard Model with multiple scalars

Main responsibilities

The candidate to this position is expected to:

• Take a leading role in the ATLAS inner tracker alignment program
• Participate in searches for models with additional scalar particles, in the final state with two b-jets and two photons
• Assist, when necessary, in the supervision of master students and PhD students
• Primarily be based at the Department of Physics in Stockholm, with opportunities for frequent travel to CERN.

Qualification requirements

Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Previous experience with the ATLAS inner tracker alignment software will be considered a great asset, as will previously experience with searches for additional scalars in the bbyy final state.

About the employment

The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of 12 months. Start date in the fall of 2025 or as per agreement.
