One of SRC's core research areas is about how global and local food system can become more sustainable and fair. The research programme aims to deliver knowledge on how both the Swedish and the global food system can be transformed into a system that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable, resilient and able to deliver healthy food. The focus will be on identifying key linkages between people, planet and food systems, key points in the food system, and key actors that unlock transformative potential. We work with equity and gastronomy as two overarching themes to draw attention to how the transformation of the food system can be done in a way that benefits everyone, while helping us to find new creative, attractive and innovative solutions for landscape management. We are now looking for two research assistants to help us realise this ambitious research agenda.
The tasks will vary depending on the specific studies and projects and will requireworking across various projects at the same time. It may involve: compiling existing literature and knowledge related to different aspects of the food system in Sweden and internationally, policy analysis, discouirse analysis, and assisting researchers in modelling different components of the food system to map interactions across different scales (local to global). It may also involve collecting data and building databases for analysis in different parts of the programme. It will include supporting in re-writing of papers in review and supporting event management.
Applicants are expected to have a Swedish master’s degree (or equivalent degree from another country) in a relevant discipline and/or field (e.g. interdisciplinary sustainability research, sustainable food systems, social-ecological resilience). Furthermore, the applicant is expected to have very good collaborative skills as well as excellent skills in synthesising and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data.
An interdisciplinary background with deep knowledge in the field of food and environment is an advantage, as well as documented experience in: literature searches and literature reviews, discourse analysis, and/or experience in building, working with, or developing databases, and/or experience in working with the analysis of qualitative material.
For one of the positions, it's meritorious with strong Swedish language skills. For the other position it's meritorious with strong German language skills.
This is a full-time employment for six months, with the possibility of extension. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date March 2025.
