SPIDER (the Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions) is an independent center at the Department of Data and Systems Science (DSV), Stockholm University that focuses on digitization of international development cooperation. Main responsibilities

  • Expertise in health records management systems, health information systems, and health data science, with a focus on digitizing epidemiological information and patient data.
  • Responsible Research Manager for capacity development in EU-funded projects, collaborating with organizations to enhance the use of patient data and digital health solutions.
  • Develop course materials in various health areas.
  • Manage research activities within assigned projects.
  • Oversee bilateral collaborations with partner countries.
  • Plan, administer, and evaluate the research components of projects, including assessing potential new partnerships.
  • Communicate research findings at events and to diverse audiences.
  • Conduct budget follow-up and reporting for research project collaborations, including oversight of annual audits.
  • Represent SPIDER at national and international events.
  • Organize public events, lectures, and conferences to disseminate knowledge and foster collaboration.

Other duties include working with overall budget planning and future vision for SPIDER. It is also desirable that the research manager participates in our preparation of applications for other funding routes. Furthermore, the research manager will also participate in the development of our thematic areas and, together with our program managers, will have close contacts with researchers and other organizations important to the field, nationally as well as internationally. Additional tasks are added in collaboration with program managers and are linked to the SPIDER's mission. Other administrative duties within the center may occur. International work trips occur.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field, preferably health informatics, health information sciences, or a related discipline, with strong scientific competence in development research.
  • Knowledge and Experience in aid and development issues.
  • Experience in writing and editing scientific texts.
  • Good communication skills and you express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
  • Experience of capacity development within public health systems.

Merits

  • A medical background is an added advantage, allowing the candidate to effectively communicate using medical terminology and drive health-related projects with a strong understanding of medical contexts and requirements.
  • Experience of coordination work (preferably as a project manager).
  • Experience in establishing strategic decision bases.
  • Documented experience of research work in the field.
  • Documented experience of handling development projects as well as practical experience of digitization.
  • Experience in creating, analyzing and evaluating strategic documents in health system development.

To succeed in the role of health systems research manager at SPIDER, you need to be interested in aid issues and digital health technology. We see that you are meticulous and structured and have great integrity and diplomatic skills. Furthermore, you enjoy working with complex issues where you analyze and solve complicated problems. Great emphasis will be placed on personality.

About the employment

This is a full-time position för 12 months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date as agreement.
