The Department of Chemistry, with more than 200 employees, is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. The Research spans all areas of chemistry such as analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry and organic chemistry. The research projects are many from theory to experiment, from basic research to more applied projects often focusing on sustainable chemistry but also advanced analytical methods of chemicals and materials. The department has a very well-developed research infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment with qualified support from staff scientists.

The department also hosts the Bachelor's degree programme in chemistry and three Master's programmes: analytical chemistry, sustainable chemistry, and organic chemistry. PhD programmes are conducted in five areas: analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry.

Main responsibilities

As course assistant/lab technician your main tasks will be to prepare and lead experiments in our Analytical Chemistry courses at the bachelor and master levels. Additional tasks are common maintenance of analytical equipment, mainly GC, LC and MS instruments, to lead exercises and give feedback on seminars and lab reports.

Qualification requirements

The applicants should have a master degree in Analytical Chemistry, or corresponding hands-on experience of modern LC, GC and MS is required. Experience of lab teaching and other analytical techniques is advantageous.

The candidate must have the ability to cooperate, as well as the ability and general suitability required to perform the duties well. You must be thorough, responsible, structured, and have the ability to work independently. The ability to collaborate with students and colleagues and work under time pressure during certain periods is a requirement. Personal qualities are important. Thorough knowledge of English is required. Good knowledge of Swedish is meritorious.

About the employment

This is a full-time, indefinite-term employment with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date as soon as possible as per agreement.
