Project description

The position is open for a candidate in theoretical physics and topological phenomena. The positions associated with the group of Emil J. Bergholtz.

Main responsibilities

The position involves research in the theory of topological phases in collaboration with Emil J. Bergholtz and other researchers in Stockholm as well as with our collaborators elsewhere. A suitable background is a PhD in theoretical physics specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics, high energy physics or mathematical physics. Special focus is on our two core activities in non-Hermitian topology and fractional Chern insulators.

Qualification requirements

In order to qualify for a Postdoctoral position, applicants are required to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent relevant degree from another country. The degree must have been completed no later than when the employment decision is made.

Assessment criteria

It is considered an advantage if the doctoral degree or an equivalent degree was completed no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Under special circumstances, an older degree may also be an advantage. Special circumstances refer to sick leave, parental leave, elected positions in trade unions, service in the total defense, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical attachment or service/assignments relevant to the subject area.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Of particular importance is competence in one or more of the topics non-Hermitian topology, open quantum systems and fractional quantum Hall states/ Chern insulators.

A suitable background is a PhD in theoretical physics specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics, high energy physics or mathematical physics.

The applicant will be selected based on documented knowledge relevant for the area of study. Analytical capability is absolutely necessary and programming skills are wished for. A high level of personal motivation and team working skills is also crucial. Well-developed English language skills are required. The applicants are encouraged to provide supporting documents that substantiate qualifications. References and interviews will be used to assess qualifications of the applicants.
