Computer games within computer and systems sciences encompasses, among other things, storytelling, accessibility, believability, co-creation and meaning creation. Apart from technical implementational aspects, design is an important part where technical aspects meet social and aesthetical aspects. To create believable game characters that creates convincing interaction with human players is one of the central areas where these aspects meet. Norms, values, and trust are important concepts concerning the interaction between players and between human and artificial players.
Main duties are teaching, course development, course responsibility, supervision, and research in computer games.
The applicant is expected to strengthen courses’ theoretical foundation and practical relevance.
The position includes research time according to the local working time agreement for senior lecturers.
Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a Ph.D. or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.
Since teaching may be in Swedish, the applicant must have skills in using Swedish in spoken and written communication, for instance giving evidence of experience in teaching in Swedish.
The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.
Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching, supervision, and research skills within the discipline.
Teaching proficiency should normally be demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate- and master’s levels. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.
Strong emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.
Emphasis will be placed on proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.
Emphasis will also be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.
It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
It is a merit to have documented experience of teaching and supervision in English.
This position (in Swedish, “universitetslektor”) is full-time, indefinite-term employment. A six-month probationary period may apply.
The employment includes time for competence development and research according to the current terms and conditions of the collective agreement.
An applicant who does not have at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, and is not deemed to have acquired equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years of employment.
