Postdoctoral Fellow in Membrane Protein Computational Dynamics

Project description

The project is focused on determining the structure and function of sugar transporters.

Main responsibilities

We are looking for a biochemist with NMR and MD simulation experience on membrane protein structural biology, with experience in working with membrane transporter proteins. The work includes planning and running research projects, which aim to determine the structure and function of secondary solute protein carriers and their dynamics. Supervision of doctoral students and other participants in the project is also required. Experience of working with membrane transport proteins; production, isolation, functional studies, NMR and MD simulations are requirements.

Qualification requirements

In order to qualify for a Postdoctoral position, applicants are required to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent relevant degree from another country. The degree must have been completed no later than when the employment decision is made.

Assessment criteria

It is considered an advantage if the doctoral degree or an equivalent degree was completed no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Under special circumstances, an older degree may also be an advantage. Special circumstances refer to sick leave, parental leave, elected positions in trade unions, service in the total defense, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical attachment or service/assignments relevant to the subject area.

Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement, as is the habit of giving research presentations and documenting the work. Experience in supervising students and technical staff is also important. Personal qualities important to this position are the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with other team members to achieve common goals. In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills in the appointment, special weight will be attached to scientific ability. Ability to generate and analyse NMRA and MD data of membrane transporter dynamics, and use of cryo EM to analyse membrane protein structure and function, as well as production of membrane proteins is required.

About the employment

The position involves full-time employment for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date 2026-02-01 or as per agreement.
