The Department of Chemistry, with more than 200 employees, is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. The Research spans all areas of chemistry such as analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry and organic chemistry. The research projects are many from theory to experiment, from basic research to more applied projects often focusing on sustainable chemistry but also advanced analytical methods of chemicals and materials. The department has a very well-developed research infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment with qualified support from staff scientists.
The department also hosts the Bachelor's degree programme in chemistry and three Master's programmes: analytical chemistry, sustainable chemistry, and organic chemistry. PhD programmes are conducted in five areas: analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry.

Studies in organoboron chemistry.
Organic boron compounds are important as reagents in organic synthesis, in pharmaceutical chemistry and even in material science. The subject area includes synthesis and transformation of organoboron compounds. The project is directed to development metal- and organocatalysis in organoboron chemistry for synthesis of chiral target molecules.
See the group website https://www.organ.su.se/ks/ for more information about the group, projects, and links to publications.
In order to be admitted to postgraduate education, the applicant must have the general and specific entry requirements. The qualification requirements must be met by the deadline for applications.
You meet general entry requirements if you have completed a second-cycle degree, or completed courses equivalent to at least 240 higher education credits, of which 60 credits must be in the second cycle, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or elsewhere.
Specific entry requirements are described in the general syllabus for doctoral studies in the field of Organic Chemistry. The applicant is required to have successfully completed an independent work (master thesis) comprising at least 30 credits at advanced level in a subject relevant to the graduate education subject (organic chemistry).
The selection among the eligible candidates will be based on their ability to accomplish the training program. The following criteria will be used to assess this ability: documented knowledge of the candidate in the relevant subject area (see the subject area above), written and oral proficiency in English, ability for analytical thinking, ability to collaborate, as well as creativity, initiative, and independence.
Experience with experimental organoboron chemistry is meriting but not required. The assessment will be based on previous experience and grades, the quality of the degree project, references, relevant experience, interviews, and the candidate’s written motivation for seeking the position.
