The Department of Psychology conducts successful research in occupational and organisational psychology, clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, perception and psychophysics, personality, social and developmental psychology, psychobiology and epidemiology.
As a researcher with us, you will have access to modern research infrastructure. We have a recording studio, advanced laboratories for sleep- and sensory research, and large databases that enable complex studies over time. The department has its own psychological clinic for research and education. We also collaborate with the Stockholm University Brain Imaging Centre, offering state-of-the-art imaging technologies, including MRI, EEG, TMS, and X-ray microscopy.

The position will be associated with the project “Precarious and unsustainable? Which work environment risks are prevalent in employed gig work through umbrella companies in Sweden, and how can they be prevented?” See description of the project on the project website. The research project is led by Professor Claudia Bernhard-Oettel. We wish to hire a researcher for the quantitative part of the project with a main focus on data analysis and preparation of co-authored manuscripts.
As a researcher in this project, responsibilities will primarily include data analysis of quantitative data (registry and survey data). Responsibilities also include writing and preparing manuscripts based on the data. You may further assist in additional data collection efforts and with the communication/dissemination of results, for example, in seminars, at scientific conferences, or in meetings with the project’s reference group. The tasks are completed in collaboration with senior researchers of the department and external collaborators.
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in Psychology, Sociology, Medicine or related disciplines. The doctoral degree must be completed before employment starts.
Applicants are expected to have documented knowledge in quantitative research methods and advanced statistics (structural equation modelling, person-oriented methods, growth curve modelling or related techniques). Being versed in case-control studies is a merit, as well as having prior knowledge of working with Swedish registry data or longitudinal cohort studies.
Given the project's research focus, applicants are expected to be familiar with work life studies and topics related to employment and working conditions. This is documented in scientific publications that reflect good competence. Familiarity with research in the gig economy is a merit.
Applicants must have good written and spoken English and be able to communicate research results and analyze survey data in Swedish.
Applicants must also have a documented ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team; personal suitability will therefore be an important basis for assessment.
The position involves part-time (80 %) employment for 12 months. Start date 1st of April, 2026 or as per agreement.
