The Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) seeks to hire two research assistants/data analysts in economics. Within the framework of the position, you will supply data support to research projects at the Institute. The position entails large possibilities to develop your competencies if you are interested in participating in internationally leading research in economics.

Main responsibilities

Modern economic research does, to an increasing extent, build on the analysis of large amounts of data. This entails challenges as concerns collecting, handling and analyzing data. We are looking for a research assistant who can contribute experience and knowledge of data analysis. You will be working closely with the researchers at the lIES and will be responsible for dealing with several parallel projects, documenting your work and delivering within set timeframes. The work tasks and the environment will provide you with the opportunity to obtain considerable experience in how leading research is carried out.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for candidates with an analytical mind who are interested in research in the social sciences and economics. Computer science, statistics or other quantitative subjects all constitute relevant educational backgrounds. We are particularly interested in applicants with proved experience of quantitative research, data processing, data scrapping, text analysis, data visualization and/or administration of surveys. Knowledge of the programs STATA, R, ArcGIS and Python are very valuable. The work language is English and you are expected to have excellent English skills in both reading and writing.

In the evaluation process, there will be much emphasis on personal qualities.

About the employment

The position is full time with a duration of 8 months. Starting date August 15, 2026, at the earliest. Salaries at Stockholm university are determined individually.
