Main responsibilities

As a Research Assistant in computational biology and machine learning, your primary tasks will include:

  • Developing, benchmarking, and executing deep learning pipelines for structure prediction, conformational sampling, and de novo peptide/protein design.
  • Running structural modeling tasks targeting complex membrane proteins, GPCRs, and cyclic peptides.
  • Managing computational workflows and job submissions on High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster environments.
  • Analyzing biophysical data, maintaining clean code repositories (Git), and presenting findings within the group.

Qualification requirements

Essential requirements:

  • Master’s degree (MSc) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biophysics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or JAX).
  • Solid understanding of structural biology principles and experience with modern structure prediction tools (e.g., AlphaFold, ESMFold, PyMOL).
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt quickly to new workflows.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience running computational jobs on HPC systems (Linux / SLURM).
  • Background in molecular dynamics, GPCR structural biology, or cyclic peptide modeling.
  • Good software engineering practices (version control, containerization with Docker/Singularity).
